Imagining the future of fishing and aquaculture

The FRDC will invest to pursue the shared vision of Fish forever 2030 for a collaborative, vibrant fishing and aquaculture, creating diverse benefits from aquatic resources, and celebrated by the community.

The FRDC R&D Plan commenced on 1 July 2020. The Plan’s main purpose is to convey a shared vision for the future, the outcomes required to pursue that vision, and the enabling strategies to achieve them.

Key Outcomes 

The Plan focuses on five R&D outcomes, supported by Enabling Strategies that build capability and provide foundational support to the delivery of the outcomes.

Enabling Strategies

The FRDC’s investment in the five enabling strategies will assist achieving the R&D Plan Outcomes. Enabling Strategy investments will be focused on assisting and achieving R&D Outcomes rather than investing in an Enabling Strategy activity by itself.

Measuring Performance

Progress against the R&D Plan will be measured against a performance management framework that sets out how progress will be evaluated using metrics that are appropriate, timely and provide an accurate picture of the impact of investment.

Outcomes and enabling strategies modelKey Outcomes and Enabling Strategies

The FRDC R&D Plan identifies five R&D outcomes that will be delivered with the assistance of investment in five enabling strategies. Both aim to help deliver the Fish Forever 2030 Strategy.

The new R&D Plan also brings with it some changes to the way engagement, planning and investment will be undertaken.
